Places To See

Le Sidobre - the geology of this region was created by tremendous volcanic activity in pre-historic times. As a result there are some unusual and impressive local feature including "Le Roc Tremblant" (a huge bolder suspended almost impossibly on top of a far smaller rock) and the river of rocks where a river runs through a long trail of man-sized spherical boulders.

Castres - At the bottom of the hills on which Angles sits is the beautiful town of Castres. There is parking close to the main square that gives access to:

Goya art museum - one of the largest collections worldwide

Place Jean Jaures - lovely main square - great for coffee, crepes, etc.

River boat - catch this from just off the square for a relaxing mini cruise

Shopping - lots of nice clothes/gift shops around the historic streets

LautrecA few miles the other side of Castres lies Lautrec, a picturesque medieval village. This is worth a visit for a stroll round the cobbled streets. The surrounding area also provides some spectacular views and is also famous for its pink garlic !

Albi – Sitting on the river Tarn, Albi is a historic town famous for its red brick buildings and the huge Basilica of Sainte Cecile. It has many sophisticated boutiques and restaurants and is also home of the Toulouse-Lautrec museum that holds around 600 of his paintings.
